Where were you when Obama was inaugurated?
I was at work. I had considered taking today off but I’m going to be out quite a bit in the next month so I decided to go in today. I tried not to schedule any meetings but at the last minute I had to hold a parent conference.
The parent conference ended just in time to watch the inauguration. One of the resource teachers that was at my meeting stayed to watch the inauguration. I offered the chance to stay to the parent but she had a prior appointment. My assistant principal came in just before Obama took the oath of office.
We all pulled up chairs and watched the ceremony and Obama’s speech. We marvelled at the number of people on the Mall. I’ve walked the Mall before so I know just how big an area that is. To see it full of people was impressive.
I had recorded the event just in case I missed the ceremony. I’m so glad that I was able to see it live, though. It just wouldn’t have been the same to watch it after the fact.
