Lately I’ve been going to the hair dresser to color my hair. Since the last time it was done as all one color, I decided to save some money and do it myself.
I’ve colored my own hair before so I wasn’t nervous about the act. The actual act of coloring my hair was simple. The results were not what I wanted.
Since it is summer time (in Florida summer starts in April), I decided that I wanted to lighten my hair a bit. According the description on the box and the example images, I should be sitting here with slightly lighter hair.
The box indicated that the results would be light brown. My natural and previously colored hair was medium brown. The results from this morning…dark/medium brown.
Dark/medium brown!!!
How the hell did I end up with darker hair than I started with?!?!?!?! Especially when I used a lighter color!?!?!
Now I can’t decide if I should pony up the money for the stylist to fix this or just wait a week and use a blond color on top of this mess.
To be honest, it’s not a bad color. It’s just not what I wanted nor what I expected. I didn’t expect my hair color to come out as light as the box indicated, but I sure didn’t expect it to come out darker than it was in the first place.
If I stand in front of the bathroom mirror with the light about two feet over my head, my hair looks lighter but still darker than it was before. The problem is that I don’t have a light that I can carry around with me just two feet over my head.
So, any suggestions?
