We’ve all heard the phrase “Beauty is only skin deep” before. Currently, though, only Dove has bucked the trend of beauty products et. al. to use waif thin models to sell their products. At least in the United States.

With all the emphasis on being tall, thin, and yet having a large bust, is it any wonder that eating disorders are on the rise?

Dove has a created a pretty eye opening 1 minute movie that shows just how shallow external beauty really can be in this day and age.

That link takes you to Dove’s Canadian web site. The same ad can be found on the U.S. website but the Canadian site’s image is full screen and the U.S. image is not.

Did you ever watch the show Touched By An Angel?

I was never a big fan of the show. To me it followed a very predictable formula and it’s main goal seemed to wrench tears out of the viewers by the time the episode ended. My mom loved the show.

One thing the show could always be counted on was the appearance of the “angel light.” The angel light was a light that would appear over and behind the angel characters when the main guest for that week was ready to accept that she or he’d been helped b angels. The light would create a glow over the head and shoulders of one or more of the angels.

The first time I saw the cover art for Bill O’Reilly’s new book I couldn’t help but think

Damn! Now Billo’s gone and given himself an angel light!

Some people have poked fun at Bill’s attire but I really do think that the angelic glow deserves more derision.

See for yourself.

Here’s a picture of one of the angel characters all light up

And here’s the cover from Billo’s book

Personally, I don’t think Bill O’Really rates an angel light. But that’s just my opinion.

Paperwork reduction
More paperwork
Less reduction
Typical bureaucracy

Okay, I know it’s not prose. It’s not haiku, either. It’s just something I wrote during a meeting when we were being told about one more form we had to now complete.

So much for paperwork reduction.

I went to see a movie today I’d been planning on seeing for a long time. I should have seen it sooner.

The movie is An Inconvenient Truth. I think everyone should see it. It’s an excellent presentation of the peer-reviewed science regarding global warming.

If you haven’t seen it yet and want to find out where it’s playing near you, just Click Here.

I was going to write about Pluto being demoted from planetary status, but then a friend told me I live in an angry city.

Orlando, FL has been named the angriest city in the United States.

Yeah, it surprised me, too.

It seems that Orlando has a higher chance to be angry when you look at a equation of men with high blood pressure, aggravated assaults, workplace deaths from violence, and traffic congestion and speeding tickets.

Florida as a whole seems to be an angry state. We have 5 cities in the top 15.

I guess I need to try harder to keep up with Orlando’s reputation.

ARGH!!!! YOU MAKE ME SO MAD!!!

How was that? Angry enough? Or do I need to try harder?
