Thursday, December 6, 2007, Keith Olbermann gave another one of his special comments. This one in regards to the recent evidence that Bush is either a liar or an idiot. A liar because he has been pushing for war with Iran over a nuclear weapons program that he knew was no longer in place or an idiot because he didn’t ask what the “information” was when it was mentioned to him in August. A liar based on reports from the administration itself, or an idiot based on the claim that Bush has made in a recent speech.

Bush felt that the jury verdict for Libby should stand but that Libby should not be punished by having to spend any time in jail. The only way that Bush could have shown more contempt for the jury verdict was to pardon Libby completely. Something that Bush is saying may still happen anyway.

Last night in his Special Comment, Keith Olbermann said very well what I’ve wanted to say with more eloquence than I possess.

For the second day in a row I’m too tired to think of something witty or thoughtful to write. Let’s just say that I’ve been playing chauffeur far too much to think of anything original.

For example, I would love to write about Cheney’s insistence that his office is not part of the executive branch and therefore doesn’t have to provide documents to the National Archives as mandated by an executive order. I thought, if Cheney is no longer part of the executive branch than funding for his office needs to be cut off. Plus he needs to pay back the tax payers since we funded his office as part of the executive branch. But someone else already thought of that.

Then I thought, if Cheney isn’t part of the executive branch than he can not claim executive privilege. That means he needs to turn over all his visitor logs (I’m sure we’ll find Abramoff’s name there many times) plus the minutes from any and all meetings (like the energy task force). Once again, someone else had the same idea.

Here’s the segment done of this on Olbermann’s Countdown the other day.

Keith Olbermann gave another special comment earlier this week. After yesterday’s so-called terrorists scare in Boston yesterday it seems even more timely.

The special comment covers Bush’s comments about 4 supposed terrorists plots that were stopped by authorities during his administration. I’ll only address one here, but I’ll provide a link to a blog that address all 4.

In his speech, Bush said

We uncovered an al Qaeda cell developing anthrax to be used in attacks against America.

From David Swanson’s blog in response to that statement

An October 31, 2006, Washington Post article describes al Qaeda’s efforts as well short of “developing” and the case to tie them to the anthrax attacks in the United States as leading nowhere. A September 25, 2006, Washington Post article describes the FBI’s investigation of the anthrax attacks in the United States as still open, but just barely active. If that investigation has reached any conclusion, or if Bush has discovered a plot of some other attacks that were prevented, he should produce evidence of such.

That title sounds somewhat dirty but the post is all serious.

George W. Bush gave a speech on Wednesday night to reveal his “new” stay the course plan for Iraq. There were so many moments when I said to myself “but we’re already doing that” or “What the Fu_k!” that all I could write about without trying to pull my hair out was terminology.

Keith Olbermann, however, had no such problem. He does a wonderful job in this special commentary pointing out the Bush administrations u-turns and flat out mistakes in Iraq.

In case you missed Olbermann listing the u-turns and mistakes in Iraq, here’s a clip from Olberman’s show just before Bush’s speech. In the clip Olbermann relentlessly lists them all.
