The last time I updated you all about Artie it was to let you know that she had spent the weekend at the vet’s.  Artie was home for two full days before she started having problems again.  Thursday she went back to the vet’s and they kept her until Saturday.  When she came home Saturday she seemed to be doing much better.

Unfortunately, it didn’t last.  Saturday night she at maybe a 1/4 of the canned dog food I gave her.  Sunday she didn’t eat a thing.  She was also very unsteady on her back legs and kept stumbling into walls and falling down.

Artie was a trooper but it was apparent that it was time to let her go.  I didn’t want to take her to the animal hospital, though, because I wanted her to be with people who knew and loved her.

I took her to the vet’s this morning for the last time.  A friend who knew Artie well came with me.  Artie was surrounded by people who loved her and she went very peacefully.

It’s hard, but I know she is in a much happier place.

I lost my dear boy Diggz, my best bud of 14 years, the day after Christmas 2006. I miss him to this day. They make themselves such a part of our lives.

I am so very sorry for your loss.

She is with God now. I hope that after an appropriate amount of time for grieving you can get another pet. As you know there are many pets out there in need of a good home.

I’ m very sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my childhood dog 15 years ago, but thinking about him still brings tears to my eyes. It’s good that you were there for Artie and that she went peacefully. She knew that she was loved.

Goodbye, Artie! We lost 3 dogs in less than two years, and it still  hurts like we lost our children. :`(

I’m sorry for the loss of your sweet dog.  I lost my border collie after 17 and a half years of being the best dog ever and a couple of years after, my cat passed away at the age of 13 and a half.  Those “half” years were important to count because those last few months were the most bittersweet.  I swore my pet days were done and then wham!   My new cat found my at the grocery a couple of years back and this year, I adopted a dog from a soldier heading off to active duty.  Pets have a way of rounding out the love in your life and I wish you many more barks in your future, with Artie always in your heart.

I am sorry for your loss, our cannine friends are such a large part of our lives. I hope when you are ready you will rescue a puppy from the pound. You  have a lot of love to give and it is evident that you provide wonderful care for your pets.

I’m so sorry … it’s hard to lose a pet.  It’s losing a family member really.

You were so kind to make sure that her final moments were with people who loved her.

    Take Care!
