It can be very difficult when a family member gets ill. I remember my husband passed and then my dog of 16 years became incontinent. My heart was so broken and I didn't want to but I had to put him down. It was the humane thing to do. He seemed so embarrassed and sad every time he had an accident. Good Luck with Artie.
