If you’ve read my blog the past few days, you know that I’ve been trying to get her a coat. She’s always had a thin coat and now she’s lost a good bit of weight due to health problems. She gets cold easily and shivers causing her to expend energy which causes her to loose more weight. Nasty cycle.
Yesterday I found a coat I thought would work on-line at PetSmart.com. I called the nearest PetSmart and they had one coat in her size. Just one. Thankfully, they were willing to hold onto it until this evening.
You can see the one I got here. It fits okay but due to the weight loss the strap is a bit too long. It also doesn’t cover her belly where she has the least fur. It is made of wool, though, so it will be warm.
Someone I know has also offered to make a coat for Artie using fleece. I’m going to take her up on the offer. This way she’ll have a spare when one gets dirty and needs to be washed.

Is there a reason you aren’t looking for a sweater for her? My dogs are hard to fit in coats, but sweaters work better because of the give (elasticity) of the knitted fabric.

Thanks, Jen.
Jan,
The first two I tried were sweaters and they didn’t fit right across the front of her chest. Her chest is more like a lab’s while the rest of her body is more like a greyhound. It’s making it difficult to fit her.

That coat in the picture is really funny. I love seeing dogs where sweaters and coats. I feel like they always give you a look that seems to say, ” i look ridiculous don’t I?”
