Gah!  Allergies!

I hate them.  Don’t ask what I’m allergic to.  The list is too long.  Let’s just say that this time of the year I am always miserable.  Today was no exception.

My nose hurts from blowing it so much and I’m tired from the allergy medicine I’m taking.

I just want to fast forward a couple of months.  Or somehow vacuum all the pollen out of the air at least around me.

Please don’t recommend that I take allergy shots.  I did that for four years.  Four!  Two shots each week for four years and I still  could never get to a maintenance level.  The long term effects of those four years of shots seem minimal at best.

Isn’t it crap to feel that way?

    I do too.
It makes me so terribly tired too.

Hopefully we’ll get rain tomorrow. That helps a bit.

    Keep on going!

That’s unfortunate. I did shots for 8 years, and they worked like crazy. Gave me a permanent resistance to juniper trees (one of my two serious allergies), and kept the other (dust mites) in check. Good thing too. Juniper blooms pretty much all year round. Now though, I’m not allowed to continue with them. Would if I could…

Allergies are a major pain!  I know. Back in my younger days I bucked hay (basically you throw bails of hay on to a trailer, then stack them in a barn). I loved the work, and it was among my most memorable of high school experiences (hard work always ends up in my memories).

Anyways, I tried a lot of options — shots (like you), prescription drugs, and a whole litany of antihistamines.

I came to the conclusion that most prescription drugs will do about the same job as non-prespcription drugs, and trying to plan on total protection of your allergies is almost impossible.  Whatever the case, there are always those over-the counter options that cost fortunes less than prescriptions. Over-the-counter or not, it’s a major pain.

I to have allergies and so does my daughter. Here are some of the different ways I control allergies in my living environment. I went out out and purchased a hepa filtration vacuum, this vacuum does not put particles back into the air I breathe. Next thing I would recommend is to have your carpet cleaned every four months even if your carpets need it or not. Millions of dust mites, pollen, pet dander and bacteria live in your carpet. I would recommend cleaning with hot water extraction (steam). This method flushes out the carpet fiber removing 99% of contaminates. If your allergic to dust mites you might want to have your mattress cleaned. Millions of dust mites live in your bedding, these dust mites leave behind feces after they are done feasting on our dead skin cells and it’s the droppings that cause allergic reactions. I hope you find this information helpful.
