Now who do I vote for?

I can’t think of a single primary election where I was pulling for the eventual party presidential candidate.  This cycle was going to be the same.

I was planning to vote for Chris Dodd.  He won my vote when he left the campaign trail to filibuster the last Senate version of the FISA bill.  The one that gave retroactive immunity to phone companies that broke the law when then handed over phone records to the U.S. government without a warrant.

Now Dodd has dropped out of the race.

I have no idea who I’ll vote for in the primary.  If you feel like sharing, tell me who you’re going to vote for and why.

Well, I know you have a lot more in common politically with my sweet Harper than me, but I’ll say this - If the candidates in November are Obama and Huckabee, I’ll be voting for Obama. On 2/5, if I can I’ll vote for Ron Paul, but that’s less about him being elected and more about expressing my disatisfaction with all the other Republicans… and nostalgia - he was running 20 years ago in my first presidential election too!
Oh, and your niece says “Hi!” - she loves her pens. And he loves his kit - as the numerous holes in my yard can attest. Gee, Thanks.

  3. Laura:

    Sis,

I won’t vote for Ron Paul.  Sure, I agree with his view on the Iraq war, but that’s it.  His views on education would gut public education even more than NCLB has tried to do.

Of course, as a registered Democrat in Florida, I can’t vote for Paul anyway.

No matter what the outcome of the primaries, I won’t vote for a republican.  There isn’t a single one running right now that I could imagine supporting.

Glad the rug rats like their gifts.

    Ooooooo-bama!

    ’nuff said.

(Of course, I somehow have to keep that from affecting my writing back on my own blog; I try to stay relatively neutral there [grin].)

No matter how the primaries work out, I won’t vote Democrat.  The Dems have gotten so extreme in their beliefs!  Any candidate that thinks they should take money from those that have and give it to those that don’t isn’t going to get my vote.  That is called ‘redistribution of wealth’ — a founding principle of Communism.
The candidate that is the best Democrat is Mitt Romney… (psst… he is running as a Republican…Wink. Smile
I used to be a Democrat, but I can’t stomach the complete lack of morals and values.  And I certainly can’t deal with their stance on immigration and border security, and the guest worker programs.  George Washington believed that we should be as separate from other countries as was possible.  He held an isolationist view.  He was a brilliant man, and one of the founders of this great nation.  I am going with ‘what he said’.
I am actually surprised that the Democrats haven’t all chosen a Republican this year.  The Democrats in this race are actually Socialists, and the Republicans are pretty much Republicrats.  Both sides win.  Smile

  6. Laura:

Actually, it’s called caring for your fellow man.  It’s something that Jesus preached about.

I much prefer that to the Republican rush to Armageddon.

As for Romney, his opinion changes with the seasons.  Who wants that?

  7. Zoey and Me:

I was for Chris Dodd too but now I think it’s down to John Edwards.  About Amanda’s comments above on the Dems lack of moral values, there are 151,000 dead Iraqis thanks to the Republican Party.  I can’t quite think how anyone with a brain hasn’t figured out where the real immorality is in this country.

  8. Shea:

I kind of like the idea of a woman being president.  Some of the greatest leaders in history have been women.  I think that it wouldn’t hurt to try having a woman as president.  Women, just seem to, sometimes be better than men.

  9. Iphelix:

So we should elect a woman simply because she is a woman? Shea I am certain that you don’t mean exactly that. The real problem is the woman in question.  Ron Paul is an interesting concept but he is not really politically viable. His credentials certainly give him a more educated perspective on health care, and his proximity to our most porous border give him perhaps a clearer understanding of this campaigns’ platform pet issue. I believe his heart is very close to where most sane Dem and Pub voters sentiments are, but he just won’t be able to carry without party support.  Were he endorsed by the Pubs….well he won’t be.
The parties are not what they once were, they both play both sides against the middle with the ultimate goal of getting to and or remaining in Washington. The bottom line is that this Federal Government was established for the "common defense and to monitor interstate trade." The New Deal was the long term solution to a short term problem that in genuine retrospect can be seen as a band aid covering a cancer. And like oxygen to cancer so is tax payer money to the quantum growth of our government. The only problem is that when a host dies (read We the People) so does the parasite. It seems outrageous to say but could we get rid of the Fed? Anyone read the Declaration of Independence lately?

i’m still on the fence.  But this question goes out to anyone…

back during the Keary/Bush elections, I visited this website that had a 20 question survey about various political stances (i.e. health care, abortion, Iraq, gay marriage, etc)…and when the results were tallied, it shoulded (by percentage) what canidate you leaned towards.  That was helpful, because I was able to send many of my "politically dense" friends an easy quiz.  there are several youngsters that i believe are voting for obama because he’s young and black, or Hillary because she’s a woman.  If someone could get back to me, email me a link to jonathonblink at gmail (dot) com.  thank you
