Publix
I am growing to seriously hate Publix grocery stores. I will admit, my growing discontent with the chain of stores is shallow. How shallow? It involves only one aspect of shopping at the chain…their machine to read ATM cards.
The problem? More than half the time they don’t work.
It’s not just me that has this problem. The gentleman in line behind me tonight said that it always happened to him as well.
I know that more people are affected because the clerks all know a “trick” to get the damn thing to work. They give you a plastic bag to wrap the card in. The clerks are much to quick to whip out the plastic bags to have this problem be isolated to a few people.
It’s also not just one Publix. This happens at every Publix I have been to in the last few months.
My care works everywhere else that I try to use it so it must be the equipment that Publix is using.
Beauty

Today I wore a new pair of shoes. They are very cute and I’ll wear them again. Okay, so they rubbed my feet nearly raw in one place but still…

Teacher of the Year
Is not me. I’m not surprised, nor am I disappointed. Like I wrote earlier, I’ve worked at the school for 2 months and deal mostly with the special education teachers. I would have been stunned if I had won.
Still, I’m honored to be nominated. Given my short time at this school, I wasn’t expecting a nomination, either.

I feel for you in terms of your ATM card. There are a couple of places here in BC that have the same issues. There are a couple of places that we've given up on and use cash for, yet there are other places where our card works perfectly fine.
We found that it's the machines that destroy the card stripe because when they're swiped, it scratches the stripe. Right now, we're having to request a new card every 6 months or so when the stripe is so scratched, even places where it usually works are having issues.
