The power went out today at about 3:30 pm. It came back on at 8:20 or so.

I hate when the power goes out because it is never a simple fix. First off, there were power outages all over the place due to some nasty thunderstorms. At least that is the excuse OUC is using. Personally, they haven’t been around to trim any of the trees etc in this neighborhood since hurricane Frances came through in September 2004.

When they got here about 6:30 or so to fix the problem they first had to trim back a lot of vegetation that had grown too close to the lines. Some of what they had to cut back is stuff that my neighbors tried to get them to cut back in 2004. The people behind them have huge stands of bamboo growing right at the property line. In 2004 OUC wouldn’t trim it back and the owners also refused to trim the bamboo back. Today they had to trim the stuff.

Oh well, at least the power is finally back on. Now comes the fun part of resetting all the electrical clocks.

Some of our most memorable family times has been when the power went out and we built a fire in the fireplace or played games together by caldlelight. No TV, no video games, just us together like a pioneer family, though I really hate resetting everything.

When the lights go out, I feel so bored.

But recently I’ve gotten into reading, so I have a fall back plan when the lights decide to go out.

Last week there was a power outage here…when the power came back I diligently went around the house to reset every clock. When I finished, the power went out again! Confused
