Some of you know and some of you do not so I’ll briefly go over what’s been happening.

My cousin Terri lives in Seattle. On July 22nd she went in the hospital due to blood clots in her leg. On July 28th she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. It was determined to be stage 4 due to lesions on her liver.

My cousin has never smoked.

She was released from the hospital that day and was able to be at home for 9 days. On August 6th she went back into the hospital with severe stomach pain. Doctors found thickening around the duodenum which was probably cancer.

On Wednesday night, August 10, Terri had a stroke. As a result, she was unable to talk, eat, had weakness on her right side and had as yet to be determined cognitive impacts. She was also having difficulty breathing. Tests determined that the cancer had spread to the other lung and to the muscles in her back.

About 7:30 am ET this morning, Terri died.

She will be greatly missed.

Stage 4. Unfortunately, not much of anything can be done when it reaches that level, except to try to make the patient as comfortable as possible. I’m very sorry to read about your loss.

My most deepest and heartfelt smypathies to you and your family.

I know how difficult this sudden of a loss can take you by surprise and leave you feeling dazed and confused. Please be sure to take care of yourself, Terry would want it that way I’m sure.

Something to consider as well….celebrate her life, not mourn her loss. Be grateful that she didn’t suffer for months (sometimes it can be years) on end. Be sure to laugh, because it is okay. As well it’s okay to cry. You’ll be rollercoastering through all these emotions and that’s expected and okay to do.

Best wishes to you and yours.
